M3 Half-track
Produced from 1939 to 1944, there were over 42,000 made for the war in a number of variants. From an ambulance, motor gun carriage to a personal carrier that can carry 12 men. Both the US and the British Empire used the M3 during WWII and the Cold War.
Saladin (FV601) built by Alvis
The Saladin is a six wheeled armoured car, used extensively by the British that replaced the AEC Armoured Car that had been in service since World War II. It is named after the warrior Saladin.
This is a multi-role vehicle that entered service in 1958. The low cost of this armoured car made it a tempting acquisition for forces that could not afford a “true” armoured vehicle or had no need for such a vehicle.
The mobility, speed and firepower proved well suited for reconnaissance and policing duties. Saladin was used in UN operations as well as police and military operations in several nations.
